Abstract

Duroxy DTM is a versatile fast dry primer formulated for service in applications requiring excellent corrosion resistance or mechanical toughness. It is suitable for use on exterior metal furniture, road transportation equipment, tank exteriors and steel structures.

Characteristics

  • Tenacious Adhesion to Ferrous Metals
  • Corrosion Resistance
  • Fast Air Dry
  • Sandable After 24 hrs @ 23øC
  • Long Pot Life
  • High Film Build
  • Excellent Surface Tolerance

Surface Preparation

Ferrous (Steel): Must be clean and free from dirt, oil, grease, rust or other contaminants. Sandblasting to SSPC SP-6 or better is recommended. Proper surface preparation will enhance the performance of the coating system. Galvanized or Satin Cote substrates may require a Vinyl Wash primer such as 36-6001 to ensure good adhesion and coating performance. Aluminum: Clean using an appropriate conversion treatment then prime with Tempo Aerospace 36-6001 Vinyl Wash primer. Wood: Not recommended

Mixing Instructions

Conventional Air Spray: Mix 4:1:2 = 30 seconds #4 Ford Cup. 4500-P-57 is a high build product and as such may pose some difficulty using conventional air spray. However should it become necessary to use this spray method then reduce up to 50% with 4500-S-57. Air Assisted Airless: Mix 4:1:1 = 60 seconds #4 Ford Cup. Reduce up to 25% with 4500-S-57 to appropriate viscosity to suit the particular spray equipment, tip size and pressure. Airless: Mix 4:1:0 = 85 seconds #4 Ford Cup. Reduce up to 20% with 4500-S-57 to appropriate viscosity to suit the equipment in use, tip size and pressure. Electrostatic Spray: Speak to your Technical Sales Representative Dip: Not recommended. Brush or Roller: Use as supplied within the limits of the pot life.
